How Municipal Court Warrants Work
The municipal-court label does not match the current Giles routing evidence. No separate active town criminal court page was located for the four incorporated towns. The GDC schedule instead assigns local police cases to Giles General District Court, which handles adult traffic and misdemeanor dockets.
A town department can answer an agency question, such as who issued a citation, while the GDC clerk confirms the case and court process. Do not assume an old charter or a town-payment form creates a current municipal warrant court.
No Current Giles Town Court Located
The official Circuit, GDC, and JDR pages identify Virginia state courts serving Giles. The research did not find a current criminal municipal court, separate town-court portal, or city-court payment system. That negative finding matters: a page should route a resident to the court named on the paper rather than inventing a town clerk or warrant desk.
Giles has 357.22 square miles and several public offices in Pearisburg. Call the correct court before making a trip; town office hours do not establish clerk or magistrate availability.
Municipal Courts Across Giles County
The four current incorporated towns in the Census table have police contacts, but no separate current town criminal court was located. The GDC schedule is the verified court route for adult traffic and criminal matters that originate with these departments.
| City | Court | What It Handles |
|---|---|---|
| Pearisburg | No separate court located; Giles GDC | Town police citation and adult case routing |
| Narrows | No separate court located; Giles GDC | Municipal-court charter provisions repealed in 2008 |
| Pembroke | No separate court located; Giles GDC | Town police cases appear in the GDC schedule |
| Rich Creek | No separate court located; Giles GDC | Town police cases appear in the GDC schedule |
Narrows Charter Text Is Historical
Narrows is the clearest reason to distinguish charter text from a current court. Its Virginia charter says the municipal-court provisions in sections 6.1 through 6.4 were repealed in 2008. The current GDC schedule, not the old court wording, is the evidence for today's adult police-case route.
A missed Narrows court date should be checked with the Giles GDC clerk. The town's FOIA officer can answer about a town-held policy or existing administrative record, not recall a court process.

For an adult traffic or misdemeanor matter from a town police department, search Virginia's court information by your case number, name, or hearing date, then select Giles GDC where the tool requires a court. There is no town warrant portal or municipal clerk route documented in the current sources.
- Use your own citation to identify the named court and exact case number.
- Search OCIS or the one-court GDC system; use Current, Archived, or All data if needed.
- Call Giles GDC at 540-921-3533 for hearing, disposition, or process questions.
- Call the town police agency only for its citation or service record; use the sheriff's 540-921-3842 line for county dispatch routing.
- Before appearing on a missed date, ask GDC what order is on file and consult counsel if arrest or bond may follow.
Town FOIA and Court Status Differ
A Virginia FOIA request asks a public office for an existing record it holds. It does not ask the office to create a warrant status answer. Giles County Administration says constitutional-officer records should go directly to that office; a court docket or capias question belongs with the court clerk.
Narrows names Debbie Thomas as its FOIA officer and describes a five-working-day response, with a possible deposit when an estimate exceeds $200. The town's FOIA instructions apply to existing town records, not a request for an instant court-process answer.
Giles Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court is a separate public court contact, with special privacy limits on its docket.
The JDR court image identifies a distinct state-court office; it is not a municipal warrant-search screen and does not disclose protected records.
Town Police Feed the GDC Schedule
The official Tuesday calendar lists Pearisburg, Narrows, Pembroke, and Rich Creek police, as well as state and county agencies. It is a shared county-court docket, not four independent court systems. A town agency can help trace its own citation, but the clerk controls the case entry and the court decides process.
This distinction is especially useful when the paperwork has a town officer's name but the case page names Giles General District Court. Keep the case number and ask which office controls the next date.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
No public town-warrant record schema was located. A GDC case result may show the court, case number, charge, hearing date, code section, or disposition. A town police name may identify the originating agency, not an independent municipal judge or court file.
| Case number | GT00000000-00 is a generic GDC traffic example, not a town warrant number. |
|---|---|
| Originating agency | The town police name may show who wrote the citation. |
| Court / charge | Giles GDC and the listed traffic or criminal charge identify the case route. |
| Hearing date | Compare it with any later notice and call the clerk if the dates conflict. |
| Process label | Ask the court whether the paper says summons, warrant, capias, or show-cause. |
Rich Creek Bills Are Not Court Debt
Rich Creek has an online payment page for utility and tax bills. It asks for an account or invoice number, not a GDC case. The town's page is not a court-payment or warrant-recall system. For a ticket, use the Virginia courts payment route only after confirming that the case is eligible.
If a date was missed, call Giles GDC before submitting money. Payment, FTA status, and recall of process are separate questions that need court confirmation.
Rich Creek labels its payment page for town services.Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
Because a separate current municipal criminal court was not located, ask the court named on your paperwork whether the matter is in Giles GDC or another court. The clerk can say whether the case requires payment, an appearance, a motion, or a bond. A judge decides whether to recall or reset process.
- Get the case number and exact process label from the court record.
- Ask whether the judge requires a motion, payment, or in-person appearance.
- Speak with a Virginia lawyer if an arrest or bond decision may follow.
- Keep the written order or receipt and ask when the docket should reflect the action.
Warning: Do not assume a town payment, police call, or empty online search recalls court process; ask the issuing clerk for confirmation.
Glen Lyn Is a Former Town
The GDC schedule still has a historic Rich Creek/Glen Lyn police slot, but Glen Lyn's charter ended effective February 1, 2025 after the local vote and later state action. An old schedule label does not show a current municipal court. Route older paperwork by the court and agency named on it.
The four current towns are listed in the Giles County city records section. The full county court route remains the same state-court system.
